Penner Paediatrics was created with an aim to provide the youth of Gibraltar with reliable and easily accessible services to promote healthy growth and development through childhood
Our Team
Currently, Penner Paediatrics is a one-woman-business, run solely by its founder, Dr Carolina Penner.
Dr Penner is a young & enthusiastic Medical Doctor from Gibraltar, who trained at the University of Southampton from 2017 – 2022. Dr Penner graduated with a Bachelor of Medical Sciences (BMedSci) in 2020 as well as Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (BMBS) in 2022.
Since then, Dr Penner has completed 2+ years of post-graduate training in a large tertiary hospital in Plymouth, UK covering a wide range of specialities including surgery, medicine and elderly care, obstetrics & gynaecology, paediatrics, gastroenterology and psychiatry. During this time, Dr Penner also took it upon herself to complete a ‘Diploma of Child Nutrition’, which has greatly increased her knowledge and expertise on a wide variety of nutritional issues, expanding her scope of practice.
Dr Penner endeavours to undergo further paediatric specialty training in the next few years, after spending some quality time with friends and family at home in Gibraltar, with a long term goal of becoming a Consultant Community Paediatrician.
Disclaimer: Dr Penner is a qualified & GMC-registered medical doctor. She is yet to undergo specialist training. ie. Dr Penner is NOT a general practitioner (GP) NOR a consultant paediatrician. Dr Penner has completed 2 years of post-graduate work following her 5-year medical degree, but will need to undergo a further 8 years of Paediatric training in the UK in order to become a Consultant Paediatrician.
Our Vision
In the long term, Dr Penner aims to grow penner paediatrics to deliver a multi-professional service hosting a full range of paediatric specialists and therapies in-house, in our own specialised child-development centre.
